These asparagus appetizers feature tender asparagus wrapped in flaky pastry with a creamy cheese filling, baked until golden and crisp for a fresh and flavorful bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed

1 sheet puff pastry or crescent dough

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Optional: shredded mozzarella

Optional: lemon zest

Optional: everything seasoning

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet.

2. Roll out puff pastry or dough and cut into strips or small squares.

3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, Parmesan, salt, and pepper until smooth.

4. Spread a thin layer of the mixture onto each piece of dough.

5. Place one or two asparagus spears on top.

6. Wrap or fold the dough around the asparagus.

7. Brush lightly with olive oil.

8. Sprinkle with extra Parmesan or seasoning if desired.

9. Arrange on the baking sheet with space between each piece.

10. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden and crisp.

11. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Use medium-sized asparagus for best structure and texture.

Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to allow even baking.
