This asparagus pea pasta is fresh, creamy, and full of bright flavor. Tender asparagus and sweet peas combine with a smooth, cheesy sauce for a simple yet satisfying meal perfect for any day of the week.

Ingredients

12 oz pasta (penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti)

1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into pieces

1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Optional: fresh basil or parsley

Optional: extra parmesan for serving

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

2. Cook pasta according to package instructions until tender.

3. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain pasta.

4. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

5. Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.

6. Add asparagus and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly tender.

7. Add peas and cook for 2 minutes.

8. Pour in cream and stir gently without boiling.

9. Add salt, pepper, and lemon zest.

10. Stir in parmesan cheese until smooth.

11. Add cooked pasta and toss to coat evenly.

12. Add reserved pasta water as needed for a silky sauce.

13. Serve warm with herbs and extra cheese on top.

Notes

Do not overcook asparagus to keep it tender and bright.

Use pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency.

Add lemon zest at the end for a fresh finish.

Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat gently.
