Crispy, golden tortilla chips made from fresh corn tortillas using a simple and customizable recipe. Choose between frying or baking methods for your ideal texture. Perfect as a snack or taco topping.

Ingredients

Corn Tortillas, 10 (or more for additional chips)
Neutral, High-Heat Cooking Oil, ¾ cup
Sea Salt, to taste

Instructions

Stack tortillas and cut into 6 or 8 equal triangles with a sharp knife
Preheat oven to 400°F if baking
For frying: Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C), cook tortilla triangles in batches 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crispy
For baking: Spray a baking sheet with oil, place tortilla triangles in a single layer, and bake 450°F (230°C) for 10–15 minutes or until crispy
Drain fried chips on paper towels, or let baked chips cool before serving

Notes

Use room-temperature tortillas for even crisping
Test-fry 1 triangle to check oil temperature before batch frying
Store in a brown paper bag to prevent sogginess; reheat in a 300°F (150°C) oven if needed
Substitute sea salt with flaky salt for texture or add 1 tsp chili powder before assembling
